Our Approach

Every Prodigy programme is intentionally structured around The Prodigy Model — using sailing as a platform to develop the mindset, skillset and confidence that enable young people to navigate challenges throughout life.

Participants learn to handle boats while practising patience, perseverance, problem solving, communication and responsibility. Across all programmes, practical sailing challenges become opportunities for personal development. Participants are encouraged to try solutions, learn from setbacks and reflect on their progress.

Financial assistance will help families where cost would otherwise prevent participation.

Milestone

Community Sailing Day — June 2026

Our first Community Sailing Day engaged more than 40 young people, many experiencing sailing for the first time. We subsequently launched our structured fall programme at East End Mini Yacht Club.

Our Planned Offering for 2027

For 2027, our wider programme focus is young people aged 8–16, with groups organised by age, experience and available coaching capacity.

Recurring Sailing Programmes

Weekly sessions that give participants time to build skills and confidence. Learning includes boat preparation, steering, sail control, seamanship and safety, with increasing independence as participants progress.

School-Holiday Clinics

More concentrated time on the water to practise skills, explore new challenges and reflect on learning. Ideal for participants who want an immersive experience during school breaks.

Community Sailing Opportunities

Introductory experiences for young people who may not otherwise have access to sailing, providing a starting point for continued participation and a first connection to Bermuda's maritime heritage.

Progression for Returning Sailors

Opportunities to build on previous learning, exercise judgment and take greater responsibility for their boats, equipment and decisions — supporting the development of independent, capable young sailors.
